Project Guidelines

As an essential requirement for the Post Graduate Degree program, every learner must prepare and submit a Project Report in their chosen area of specialization. The submission is to be made online through the university portal, and the report will be evaluated by subject experts appointed by the University.

Significance of a Project Report

A well-written project report is crucial, as many projects lose marks due to poor presentation. It allows learners to show independence, originality, and organizational skills. It also helps apply the techniques and concepts learned during the program in a practical way.

Project Work

As part of the curriculum, learners are expected to investigate a topic in-depth, gather relevant information, and present their findings in a structured manner. The project should highlight the challenges identified, the methods applied to address them, the results achieved, and the conclusions drawn.

The project can either describe existing systems or prevailing conditions related to the topic, or in the case of exploratory research, add new features to an existing system and provide meaningful projections.

In simple terms, a project can be understood as:

  • A practice of verifying or demonstrating concepts, hypotheses, or processes learned.
  • A technique of self-learning and learning by doing, which increases practical knowledge.
  • An opportunity to connect theory with real-world applications.
  • A study focused on practical orientation rather than broad generalization.

Selection of Project Topic

Choosing the right project topic is one of the most important steps in preparing a successful PGDBA project. A study project may be related to a single organization or even involve a comparative study of multiple organizations. Ideally, the project should be carried out in the organization where the learner is currently employed.

Before beginning the project, the learner should identify the core problem to be studied and gain familiarity with the subject by reviewing books, journals, and online resources. Access to relevant data, references, and study material must be ensured at this stage.

Literature Review

A Literature Review is essential as it provides an overview of research already conducted in the chosen area. This helps identify gaps in knowledge and areas that require further study.

The project topic can be selected in several ways:

  • Select an area that is current, relevant, and has strong application value.
  • Gather insights from recent publications, journals, and periodicals.
  • Obtain necessary permissions from the employer if conducting research in the workplace.
  • Consider a case study of your own organization or choose another company/industry vertical.
  • Consult a Project Guide, who may be a postgraduate faculty member or a professional in a managerial role.
  • Seek regular guidance and obtain the Project Guide’s certification for the report.
  • Take advice from subject experts to refine the scope of your study.
  • Explore magazines, newsletters, and industry articles for trending topics.
  • Discuss with the concerned organization to finalize a feasible and practical project topic.

Finally, the title of the project should be carefully worded. It must include 1–2 strong keywords that clearly reflect the study area and ideally fit within the first 65 characters.
